The Merchant District, while best known for its seemingly endless array of creature shops, is also home to many fine bookstores. Most such shops have at least one winged cat in residence - often one of Frederick and Tabitha's descendants. They can be found sprawled across counters or lounging on bookshelves, and occasionally display an uncanny knowledge of the bookstore's contents, leading customers to just the book they were looking for or knocking just the right volume off a shelf. Some shopkeepers even claim their Literary cat can read, judging by the way books rearrange themselves overnight, and there may even be some truth to this claim.

(The progenitors are named after the Wysocki print Frederick the Literate and Beatrix Potter's Tabitha Twitchet. Feel free to name your kitty after your favorite fictional feline, if you have one.)
